By integrating the unique properties of monorail and recumbent cycle technologies, Shweeb delivers a personal, efficient, and cost-effective transport solution with applications for urban commuting, recreational and fitness markets.
Shweeb technology has been in development since 2002. A prototype track was built in Rotorua, New Zealand and opened to the public in November 2007. Within the first 18 months, over ten thousand visitors from around the world have ridden on the system exposing it to intensive use to prove its efficiency, strength and durability.
The prototype site has attracted widespread media coverage and global interest. Discussions are currently taking place with a view to delivering the first working transportation site by early/mid 2010.
